Button Changes

I have changed the buttons on my double breasted cream cardigan from H&M. They were rather unsatisfactory - they look decent enough from afar but close up, they're rather cheap, basic and underwhelming. I think the change is a bit better, although it does give the cardigan an altogether different look.

I also 'personalised' my new safari jacket which came with rather small, matt, faux horn buttons - considering how many buttons were on display, it rather diminshed the quality of this great value item. I added slightly larger, glossy brownish buttons for a really colonial look. Again, alters the look completely.

Winston,

The results to your sweater and jacket are fantastic, very wise choices. The sweater has been brought up a notch by your slight change. Moreover, I especially like the colonial look your jacket now owns; the buttons give it that classic safari jacket styling. It lends it a very chic aura.

Regards,
Nicola

I'm suitably impressed by your button sewing skills... A lovely job. And great improvement too. M x

Why thank you Marie! Most kind. I actually enjoy sewing immensely. It would be good to see you and Mr Rowland-Kidman again soon. Or is it Kidman-Rowland?

Good God, where can I find that safari jacket?

Jon,

The actual jacket you can find in H&M - currently in the sale for £15.

If you are a Londoner, or live near, you can find good buttons to replace the rather cheap ones on there from decent haberdashers. There are a good bunch in Soho but the best (as it is open at the weekend) is MacCulloch & Wallis (http://www.macculloch-wallis.co.uk). Liberty's on Regent Street is also very good, although prices are higher.

I wish I was a Londoner, or an Englishman at all for that matter. Thank you though, I'll have to stop by H&M soon.
